Suspended (between a hurricane and a breath,) explores data-based sculptures inspired by the algorithmic sound, image and architectural work of Iannis Xenakis. While, it also speaks to a commonality of Clarke's own process with his. The three-dimensional print and carved plexi sculpture illuminated with LEDs are based on patterns implemented thru a single loop of the sound of Clarke's breath and a model of hurricane Katrina provided by NASA open source data and three-dimensional prints. The frequencies of her breath inform vertices that manifest in abstractions, while the hurricane resides in a video shader, and three dimensionally on top of the printed sculpture in a reduced gesture.
